Simulation of a sheet pile wall.
Aim: how large is the load on a wall segment.
Diagram and photograph test setup. A load cell with accuracy of 0.25 N measures the load.
The wall is supported horizontally by an actuator system, which allows a monotonous or
cyclic displacement of the wall.
SOME ORIENTATING TESTS
Box is filled with water. Measured load linear with gravity (yellow line).
Displacement of wall is not affecting load significantly (bleu line).

Box is filled with sand. Load is almost linear with gravity (purple line). Displacement of wall has big influence
on measured load (green line). In this test the wall was not very ridgid, resulting
in lower forces.

Now a more rigid wall has been used, resulting in a larger force with
increasing g-level (yellow line). Movement of the wall (bleu line) has a larger
influence on the force.
