CENTRIFUGE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DELFT

Simulation of soil uplift by grout injection.
Aim: what is the behaviour of a soil layer during expansion of a grout bag.

Diagram and photo test setup. The expansion of a grout bag is simulated by pushing a bar into the soil. Friction is reduced by a flexible sleeve. The displacement of the surface is visualized by means of markers.

ORIENTATING TEST

Some markers are placen on the sand surface in order to visualize the displacement. The displacement is visualized by subtracting two images, after the bar was pushed into the soil. Image processing techniques can be used to digitize the displacement of the markers during the test.
In the first instance the behaviour of the soil will be examined by using a well controlled upheave system. In a later stage attention will be paid on the behaviour of a bag which is filled with a fluid.
